‘‘All the property world's a stage for auctioneer Andrew’’

Daily Post 17/08/2006

ANDREW BINSTOCK is a showman. It helps in his day job, as he's an auctioneer by trade - a career that might leave less extrovert types quaking in their boots!

"I can be addressing an audience in the many hundreds," explained Andrew, who completed a two-year apprenticeship on the job at Allsop's, in Central London - one of the most prestigious operators in the business.

A Londoner by birth, Andrew joined Sutton Kersh earlier this year after a chance call to director James Kersh.

He revealed: "I'd spent the last three years between 2002 and 2005 as a property developer and investor, and decided that diversification in an increasingly saturated property market was my next step. That, along with growing bored of working on my own for three years!"

"After a cold call to James (on the advice of a mutual contact), my career path turned full circle when I was offered the auctioneer role with Sutton Kersh. After the telephone conversation, I was honestly delighted."

Months previously, Andrew had already been plotting his route back to the auction room, shrewdly acknowledging that the internet would play a major part in the auction process.

Andrew explained: "I had set up my own online auction company, AuctionYourProperty.com, along with my business partner, Claude Schneider, aimed at bringing property auctions to people who would otherwise not consider auctioning their home."

Andrew's grounding in accountancy at Birmingham University may have enhanced his numerical skills, but it was his personality and flair that shone through at his first auction for Sutton Kersh, back in February.

"Working alongside Tony Webber and the Sutton Kersh team, we achieved a record-breaking 90% sold figure and I was personally very proud of that day," said Andrew, whose enthusiasm is apparent in the way he talks of his coveted career and business. "I am passionate about the auction process because I believe it is, undoubtedly, the purest economic way of selling," he added.

And selling is what Andrew does best. After just six months in the city, Andrew has already become a firm favourite with bidders at Sutton Kersh's regular auctions at the Marriott Hotel, in Liverpool city centre. He said: "We always have a full house. It's a great environment in which to sell property."
